Well, the week of Christmas is coming to a close. It has a busy one for my family this year. We had four different Christmases on two days. With two very rambunctious toddlers, it can make things a bit difficult. They miss naps and get to bed late for the night.
On the first day of our Christmas events, we had three of for Christmases to be at. The first was Christmas morning at home just the four of us. Seeing if Santa came, opening gifts together on the living room floor, having a fun breakfast of cinnamon rolls. It was small, quiet and sweet. Next, we drove over to my mom’s house for our second Christmas event. There we opened gifts and had lunch with my mom, sister and my kids cousins. It was hectic, loud and a little overwhelming. We had fun but it is nice to leave and get back to a calm home. Our last stop of the day was to my dad’s house with just him. Polar opposites in noise level. But, my boys brought their own bit of craziness to the house. By the time we got home that night we were all tuckered out and ready to go to bed.
Our last Christmas event was today, the Saturday after Christmas. It was our big family Christmas at my papaw’s house. With four generations in the house, the place was full of people. There were so many kids in varying ages running around. While the gift opening, the dinner and Christmas sweets are great, some of the best moments are in-between those things. Sitting with so many people squished in the tiny living room. Sitting at the table talking about trips coming up next summer. Watching all the toddlers socializing together. It’s those little things that make these holiday events together special. Not the gifts and dinners.
I hope all you out there are having a great holiday season and here’s to a great New Year!
