Thanksgiving Cheer

*How to celebrate Thanksgiving throughout November and instead of just one day.

Every year I see so many people getting so excited for Fall and going into October adding Halloween prep and fun into the mix. On Halloween they will go out and have fun going to parties, trick or treating, watching a scary movie. But, the very next day on November 1st they will forget we are still in the middle of the Fall season. They will start decorating their homes for Christmas, playing the music and be full of Christmas spirit. Now, I’m not saying this is wrong or that I haven’t done these things myself. Each year I’ve been married now we have our tree up long before December. What I am hear to talk about today are some ways to celebrate the real spirit of the Thanksgiving holiday all throughout November.

#1. Watch a movie. One of my favorite movies for thanksgiving is Paul Blart: Mall Cop. It covers both Thanksgiving and Black Friday. It makes for a fun movie night with your family.

#2. Watch your favorite TV shows Thanksgiving episodes. A few suggestions are Roseanne, That 70’s Show, Gilmore Girls and Boy Meets World.

#3. Talk about what your family is thankful for. Sit in a circle and take turns. Sometimes you will feel like you don’t have much to be thankful for but, when you actually take the time to think and talk about it, you will realize you have so much to be thankful for.

#4. Bake a Fall dessert, for Thanksgiving or just to eat and enjoy. Use apples or pumpkin and plenty of cinnamon to fill your home with a delicious aroma. Enjoy and be grateful for the delicious treat and and a home that can smell that amazing.

As you go through November this year try to remember what all you have to be thankful for, family, friends, a home, full bellies. Share that feeling of gratitude with someone else. Let it grow to last longer than November.
